Since the 1800s, educators have been using technological tools to help them in their classrooms. Gartner’s Hype Cycle resonated with me because I have experienced the hype cycle several times throughout my life. For example, I distinctly remember schools spending a ton of money on laptop carts only to have students use them a handful of times every year. This practice of "jump[ing]-on-the-bandwagon by pouring money into computer and software programs" without a plan on how to use them effectively is reflected in Alfie Kohn's The Overselling of Ed Tech.
